A very nice hotel. They have several different buildings with guest rooms. Each has its own laundry and vending machines, etc. Along with these there are a few small store type places. One sold Christmas items, another had bears carved out of logs of wood (*They do ship those so you don't have to lug them around for the rest of your vacation). In addition, there are a few other (non-Princess affiliated) shops across the street. They have a couple different dining options. We had breakfast buffet in the same building they did a dinner theater in the evenings. Food was good. The staff we interacted with were all friendly, helpful and very social. WiFi covers most of the hotel area. There is an outings desk where you can schedule trips to local attractions in the main building across from the front desk. There is also another gift shop, a small snack area, computer area and a couple more lounges (one with a fire place and very comfortable seating - nice for Alaska). As a local Alaskan we are very disappointed with Denali Princess Lodge. We booked our trip months in advance and requested a king size bed as we were going on a weekend getaway for my boyfriends birthday. The Friday before we arrived (we were arriving on a Sunday) I called and asked if they had hot tubs and they told me yes. When we arrived they told us they did not. Tired from traveling all day we showed up to our room with two twin beds and looked like Motel 6. Intact, I have had better rooms at Motel 6 and Super 8. When we called the front desk to inform them we were supposed to have a room with a king, the manager gave us attitude and was extremely un accommodating. When we shared our issues he told us to "take it with corporate" rather than talk to him, the MANAGER. The front desk staff is extremely grumpy and rude. Definitely put a damper on our supposed to be romantic trip. As a local who has many guests come to visit Alaska we will never recommend our guests to stay with Princess. They can get much more for their value elsewhere. We will not be returning We stayed at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge for one night prior to driving in on a Denali Road Lottery pass. The room was small but functional - a mini fridge would have been useful, but our cooler managed ok. The shops were very nice, and the Grizzly Bear Pub has great salmon tacos, but a surprisingly limited beer menu compared to other restaurants in Alaska. If I have one complaint, it's that very little information is available on the website. It would have been great to have restaurant hours and menus, salon hours and a menu of services, and a number of other details available. I ended up having to call repeatedly for information. My guess is this info is provided to tour/cruise customers, but as overnight lodgers, we didn't get this info, which left us with a lot of uncertainty. We knew we had a room, but not if we could get dinner. The hotel itself is nice, but their website needs to provide more details to be useful to ALL travelers. The hotel is made up of a series of small buildings containing different room layouts. Nothing is connected directly, although a shuttle runs through the property. There is a number of shops and a main building for the hotel. Across the street are a few bars, restaurants, and gift shops. If you are going on the all day Denali bus tour either buy a lunch from the hotel in Advance or go across the street for something to bring. Expect everything to be priced the same $15) and about the same food for these boxed lunches. The main restaurant was a great dining experience and the best salmon I've had. The music of Denali is a dinner theater experience. Expect family style food, with salmon and brisket being the main course and be in a mood to participate. No gym, or athletic supplies. Caters to an older crowd. Overall lovely rooms, very clean. Beautiful flowers. Merchandise in stores could be better. Efficient with moving people. Food good at ventures. One area to improve is the front desk. There were long lines at front deal today. Staff was not knowledgeable about many things.
