Off the beaten path, this older motor court offers cabins with private bathrooms and a restaurant. It's not economical, especially when you factor in the cost of taxis if you don't have a vehicle. The hotel offers shuttle service just twice a day at set times, otherwise we had to rely on the sparse local taxis. There was only one electrical outlet in the room and it was by the sink. While cell service is frequently not available, we still used our phones' cameras, as well as our tablets and all of them needed charging. While the buildings may have been old, the staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in Perch resort for 2 days. The resort is located next to a river stream with nice views facing the rooms. The place is nice and clean, but the rooms are small. The staff are very friendly and accomodative. They even provide packed lunch for next day in case you need. Try out the pizzeria if you get time out there. Heaven. Our cabin is spacious. Bedding warm and comfy.. The dinner was wonderful-I recommend the cranberry compote with brie. The blackberry cinnamon roll this morning was amazing, not to be forgotten. The cabin was small, but comfortable. We had a queen sized bed and a twin on the main level, and there was a twin on the loft, but the rungs on the ladder were too far apart for us to get to it (we're both under 5'3"). The porch overlooked a little river, which was lovely and drowned out noise from the road. The bath house was conveniently located. The restaurants were not great, but there aren't many options in the area. Nice, clean, quaint, restaurant is superb. You won't write home about the lodging, but you're in Denali you should enjoy the surrounding more than the Lodge. You can count I'll stay here again.
